Don’t detox in Winter!

In January many people decide to go on diets or to detox. Are you one of them?

Did you know that January is actually THE WORST month for dieting and detoxing and that worst thing you can do for your hormones in the winter months is to lower the amount of healthy fats you consume?

Here is why:
Winter is the time during which our bodies need to save and build strength, just like the nature around us is doing. We need to create and plant the “seeds” we wish to sprout come spring.

Winter is a time for us to relax and nourish our bodies with an abundance of healthy fats, so that we can properly replenish our endocrine system.

We also need to recharge our adrenal glands – our main protectors against stress. If we start detoxing our body during the winter, we do more harm than good for our hormones and our endocrine systems. And, as you already know, our hormones affect EVERYTHING! They determine how youthful, healthy, and full of energy we are.

If we detox during the winter months, we undermine the body’s resilience against stress! The pounds we shed during the winter, we often very quickly gain back, because they were lost during the wrong time of the year. Extreme dieting in the winter time ages us prematurely and triggers the so called spring fatigue. If we experience it that means that we didn’t strengthen our bodies enough during the winter.

If our winter nutrition lacks healthy fats, this can affect our mental health and our emotional stability.
Winter is a time of recharging our batteries and our cells, not a time to detox!

When we align our actions with the cycles of nature, we stop losing our health and our energy and we find that many things we once found difficult become easy.
It’s all about timing! If we do thinks at the right time, nature will support us with all its might.
